Wheat...West coast wheat markets reflected post-USDA estimates showing
larger carryout projections for next year, which furthered declines across
the futures complex. Even with strengthening basis levels approaching 100
over Chicago July futures, white wheat bids drifted a dime lower in early-
week trade.
Crop Progress...Weekly crop progress showed the three-state PNW winter
wheat index dropped a point to 97% of normal, as warm and dry conditions
cut into Idaho and Oregon ratings. The good to excellent rating for Idaho
slipped 3 points to 62% and Oregon was off 9 points to 57%, but Washington
held steady at 78%. A cool front with scattered precipitation is moving
through the region this week.
Shipments...Export movement of U.S. wheat held in line with the prior
week at 14.8 million bushels, putting shipments 15% ahead of a year ago at
745 million bushels. White wheat was the top mover with 5.3 million bushels,
going mostly to The Philippines. West coast exporters also moved more than
20 million bushels of corn.
